This is a fun flower drawing, with a kind of “retro” 50’s/60’s feel to it—looser than my usual rendering style. Still, I couldn’t resist a few gold touches to highlight the stamens.

SOLD “Santa Fe Trees”, oil on Italian canvas panel, , 8 ”x 6” unframed. Price $35

Another plein air landscape, painted in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains above Santa Fe. That area is abundantly populated by ponderosa pines and aspens, a lovely cool spot to paint on a hot summer day.

And now for something completely different...

In between painting the Sunset Series and the new potsherd fragments, I worked up these two small lily paintings. A couple of months ago I had taken some not-very-interesting photos of a lily bouquet, and then fooled around with the compositions until the images were more enticing to paint.

In the meantime, I am packing up my studio supplies in preparation for my trip to New Mexico. So the next post on my blog will be from the beautiful Land of Enchantment.
