About The Artist

Hello! I am a fine arts painter, with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My primary painting medium is oil and alkyd, and mostly I work in a representational style. My greatest challenge as a painter is to capture the effect of light; and my greatest joy as a painter is to accomplish that. Many thanks to those readers who have been following this blog since Day 1 (May 19, 2008). To those who are visiting for the first time today...Welcome, and thanks for dropping by!

I just received news that the two paintings shown here have been juried into the June 5th "1st Thursdays" showing at the Orlando Museum of Art. The Orlando Museum of Art does a "1st Thursday" showing of area artists every month on the first Thursday, just for that evening, from 6-9pm. Each month has a different theme, style, or subject matter that must be adhered to. The theme for the June showing is Small Works / Large Images. All artworks exhibited must be 12" x 12" or smaller, including the frame.

I attended a "1st Thursday" showing in February. The food and music were good and, best of all, you could visit the Museum's galleries, too. The place was packed. So, I am looking forward to a fun evening in June and seeing my little paintings displayed, too!

Carol,
Congratulations on getting into the exhibit. These are absolutely beautiful, they seem like small gems...
Are they going to be for sale at the exhibit? :) Lisa

That's fantastic! Now, be sure to 'upsell' to the visitors- let them know of your blog and that you have other work for sale through it. Have a guest book where you can capture their e-mail addresses and add to your list... boy, am I bossy or what???
Just want the rest of the world to know what all your Missouri pals already know about your talent!

Carol, Bigtime congratulations!

The new paintings are beautiful! Lisa's right: Gems they are! And what a great concept for Orlando's museum...Have you been coaching them?

Joplin's doing 3rd Thursdays, May to September, and Spiva is open 5-9 those evenings. Several temporary galleries will occupy renovated buildings for the events, and I could see Spiva adding one-night juried shows to the mix as long as you come hang them ;o)

Yay, you! And thanks!
